Data is a critical factor in promoting the adoption of sustainable finance by financial institutions and corporates. We encourage the use of tools and technology to enhance data availability and understanding of the impact of climate change.
DATA TOOLS
GSF Data Portal
The Green and Sustainable Finance Data Portal contains Government data sources for assessing physical risks in Hong Kong, such as historical data on catastrophe damages, district level micro-climate conditions (such as tropical cyclones, flooding, landslides and storm surges), geographic data and a co-ordinates transformation tool.
Non-listed Company Questionnaire on Climate and Environmental Risk
Developed jointly by the Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group and CDP, this easy-to-use questionnaire will help non-listed companies and SMEs report against the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework to raise their sustainability profile to lenders, investors and supply chain clients.
GHG Emissions Calculation and Estimation Tools
The Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group is engaging with a local university to develop free and publicly accessible greenhouse gas emissions calculation and estimation tools with clearly-disclosed methodologies that companies, including small and medium sized enterprises, and financial institutions can use as an alternative source of information.
The Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group is exploring opportunities for public-private partnerships to promote the development of innovative data and technology solutions. It is working with Invest Hong Kong and Cyberport to develop a Hong Kong green fintech map to showcase green fintech firms operating in Hong Kong, with view to facilitating the identification of suitable technological solutions for promoting scale and efficiency.
